Here are some upcoming local trash and recycling events. For more information about trash and recycling in Lower Merion and Narberth, check out this post that we try to keep as updated as possible. Narberth residents have their annual Spring Cleanup from June 6-10. Narberth Spring Cleanup It’s almost time for Spring Cleanup Week - otherwise known as Junk Week. Spring Clean Up Week is June 6-10. This is the week that the Borough collects items which are not normally removed by the garbage men. Items that are NOT collected include building materials, hazardous waste, like paint and pesticides, appliances, and lawn & garden waste. Put all your stuff out on the curb on Sunday, June 5. Some people will have yard sales that weekend (June 4-5) to try to sell items before they hit the curb pile. If you have furniture to donate, see below for how you can leave it out (and tag it) for the Philadelphia Furniture Bank. The Borough schedule of target dates for pickup is above, but the volume of stuff affects and can change the schedule. Unless you're certain, it's best to just put everything out on Sunday. Browsing through your neighbor's curb pile is quite OK - nobody will mind as look as you leave the area looking as good as when you got there. (In other words, don't make a mess.) People from neighboring towns may also cruise down the street, looking for things to reuse or recycle. It's important to make sure you don't leave bikes or other items near the curb that week, just so there are no misunderstandings as to what is or isn't free for the taking. Note for LM residents: Lower Merion residents don't have the same Spring Cleanup Week that Narberth has. LM holds a number of free dump cleanup weekends each year. Two were already held this Spring. There is one more, on Saturday, October 1st & Sunday, October 2nd from 9am – 4pm For more information about trash and recycling in Lower Merion and Narberth, check out this post that we try to keep as updated as possible.
Rep. Mary Jo Daley is hosting two local shredding events. From her office: "I am co-hosting a pair of free shredding events this spring. These events allow you to safely dispose of unwanted personal documents such as bills, tax forms, credit card applications, etc. For more information about Narberth or Lower Merion trash collection, recycling, hazardous waste collection, and other waste disposal/recycling topics, see this post.
